| Local Education Authorities are allowed to make informal enquiries
into the educational provision you are offering your son(s) and daughter(s).
Some people accept home visits from a member of the LEA, but this
is not an entitlement that the LEA has, and many people prefer to
offer an Educational Philosophy or a Statement of Educational Provision.
Frequently this document will be a combination of philosophy and a
Statement. .
This is a unique document relevant to you and your child(ren) and
will lay out how you offer educational provision in your family.
The following examples have been used by home educators in response
to questions from their LEAs and they have kindly given permission
for them to be reproduced here to aid people in preparing their
own Educational Philosophies/Statements. Please note that different
LEAs require different levels of detail. These are just examples
of some which have been successful.
We would remind people that these documents should not be copied
and used with your own LEA. It is unlikely that two families will
offer identical provision, and LEAs do have access to public web
pages like this and would be likely to note if it was a copy or
whether what you have sent in was the unique provision that you
are offering. Please use them as a guide when preparing your own
philosophy/statement.
