Whilst the following letters/samples have not all been produced
by EO, they have been put together by experienced home educators
and can be used as a basis for people to produce their own letters
in the following circumstances. Remember that you are responsible
for your child's education and these are possible suggestions which
you can adapt for your own use.
Sample Letter
for first contact with an LEA
Sample
Letter for LEA suggesting insufficient evidence
Dealing with the
question of samples of a child's work
Example Letter
for if a Head Teacher refused to de-register a child - Some
EO members are still experiencing difficulty in getting a head teacher
to deregister their child, even when they send a copy of the deregistration
leaflet. One family were refused deregistration and the child's
work was withheld, despite the EWO telling the head that she was
legally obliged to do as the parents wished. They found this letter
to the school governors effective.
