Time
to Reflect
In the winter of my life
I take time to reflect
Upon the lessons of the years
Frailness crept up on me
Like an invisible shadow
The autumn years rolled by
Like blowing leaves in the wind
My first grandchild was born
And a new relationship blossomed
The beauty of this child
Was inherent and graceful
Summer was enlightening
Having emerged quickly from childhood
The responsibilities became apparent
Meeting my sole mate
Gave me the passion for life
Our children were as precious to us
As food is to the starving
Watching them grow and develop as individuals
The pride we had in them
Grew like a beautiful rose.
Spring was refreshing and informative
The learning of life
Was like a bud becoming a flower
Shining through the storm |
The
Dream World
Don’t waste your time in a dream world
With its comforting security
You may never want it to end
In an eternal slumber
Exciting dreams are revitalizing
Like newly breaking waves
As you creep deeper and deeper into darkness
The images unfold
Bright and light they come alive
The feelings are overwhelming
You become totally immersed in your dream world
Deathly blackness envelops you
The fear is skin crawling
With your heart pounding and your hair on end
You want out, NOW!
The terrors increases in intensity
And you feel deaths door is ahead
Bolt upright you realise you’re awake
Still breathing heavily with the adrenalin rushing
You breathe a huge sigh of relief
Life is appreciated for all its glory
And now you sleep. |
Inherent
Grace
You move like a soft silky scarf
with effortless grace and agility
the ease and self assurance is inherent
to those watching you perform
Blue Chiffon clings to every curve
matching the colour of your glorious eyes
the dance of the elegant swan is outstanding
Riveting the audience to their seats
as the music becomes livelier
the dancing becomes breathless
Your hair swirls like a golden shimmer
and the audience wishes eternity would come
eternity arrives and the dance is finished
like a summer flower you have blossomed this performance
to their feet the audience rise
thunderous applause reaches you
like a bolt of lightening
you come back to this world.
