NSPCC and Home Education
The following sources of further information have been compiled by EO trustees so that home educators may make an informed decision. EO is not responsible for the content of external links.
EO trustees strongly support the petition calling on the NSPCC to withdraw the report they issued in March last year. There are already over 5000 signatures, but the more home educators who sign up, the more notice the NSPCC and other authorities will have to take. A copy of original NSPCC Report on Home Education from March 2014 may be downloaded below.
Following the launch of the petition, the original Report has been removed from the NSPCC website and replaced by a note that it is under revision [https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/child-protection-system/case-reviews/learning/home-education-update/]
Graeme (originator of petition) has written an Open Letter to The NSPCC, on 4th January 2016. This can be viewed as an update to the petition website, and includes a detailed commentary on the NSPCC Report. The Commentary can be downloaded by copying and pasting http://tinyurl.com/5216NSPCC to your browser.
There have been a number of independent responses to the NSPCC report, some of which are listed below. We would be interested to hear of other significant contributions that might be added.
