This is the web site of the HE-Special-UK mailing list. We are a group of families who Home Educate children with Special Educational Needs.

'"Home Education" is the UK term for what may be better known as Homeschooling. Our children don't attend school, or in some cases may only attend school part time.

If you are Home Educating a child with Special Educational Needs, or if this is something that you are thinking about, then I'd like to invite you to join us. You will be very welcome.'

We are the Advisory Centre for Education (ACE), a national charity that has been advising parents and carers of children aged 5-16 in state-funded education for 50 years.

This charity operates in England and Wales and advises parents and other family members whose children are involved with or require social care services. They also run a confidential telephone advice service for families.
5   Link   Community Legal Advice
This website can help you calculate if you qualify for legal aid. Their helpline 0845 345 4 345 also provides free, confidential and impartial advice paid for by legal aid, with a full casework service. Mon - Fri 9am - 6:30pm. Calls from 4p/min - callback available.

The LCF is the national body for a network of community based Law Centres. Law Centres provide help in solving everyday problems, such as getting decent housing, dealing with discrimination, or obtaining the correct benefits.

A group for widowed people who are home educating. A place to share the good days & find support & encouragement when needed. Somewhere to be allowed to cry & not told we should "get over it" because a time period has passed, & get a cyber hug when the future seems too scary to contemplate.

IPSEA is a volunteer-based organisation and many of the volunteers are themselves parents of children with special educational needs. IPSEA can provide: free independent advice; free advice on appealing to the Special Educational Needs Tribunal, including representation when needed; free second professional opinions.

ANXIETY UK works to relieve and support those living with anxiety disorders by providing information, support and understanding via an extensive range of services. They can provide support and help if you've been diagnosed with, or suspect you may have an anxiety condition as well help with specific phobias.

The T.S.C. aim is that travellers access opportunities, freedom and choice, through education. To help Travellers with the successful education of children. This may be through the provision of advice and materials for home education; or through back-up work for children whose education has suffered through constant changes in school. There is also a commitment to advise parents about pre-school teaching.
